SCAI and CRT Partnership: Advancing Interventional Cardiology Innovation (2025)

Bold innovation and training expansion are on the horizon as SCAI and CRT announce a transformative partnership to push interventional cardiology forward. The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) and Cardiovascular Research Technologies (CRT) will collaborate across education, legislative advocacy, and future research to elevate the field.

Key elements of the alliance include discounted CRT 2026 registration for SCAI members and joint educational offerings. In alignment with their advocacy missions, SCAI will host an annual Day on the Hill to coincide with the CRT meeting in Washington, DC. Looking ahead, the two organizations plan to explore collaborative research efforts, including novel registries and clinical trial programs.

"Collaboration is essential for the future of medicine—interventional cardiology in particular—and SCAI is dedicated to improving patient outcomes. This partnership with CRT reflects a shared commitment to advancing interventional cardiology through collaboration, scientific discovery, advocacy, regulatory policy, and education. While approaching these goals from different angles, the growing alignment in vision makes this partnership particularly promising," stated Srihari S. Naidu, MD, MSCAI, president of SCAI.

A guiding SCAI–CRT Task Force, comprising representatives from both organizations, will steer the collaboration by identifying and coordinating joint opportunities. To support these efforts, SCAI will establish a working group to review research projects—such as registries and clinical trials—proposed by SCAI, its members, and CRT’s research network. CRT will supply core lab services, and SCAI alongside CRT will pursue external funding collaboratively.

Related context highlights ongoing scientific and clinical developments across the cardiovascular field, illustrating the momentum behind collaborative, cross-disciplinary initiatives.

"Together, this partnership will open new channels to engage physicians, spur innovation, and develop programs that tackle the clinical and policy challenges shaping our specialty. By leveraging shared strengths, investigator-led research can accelerate, professional development can broaden, and patient care can improve as a result," commented J. Dawn Abbott, MD, MSCAI, chair of the SCAI–CRT Partnership Task Force and president-elect of SCAI.

"CRT’s collaboration with SCAI extends the reach and impact of both organizations. This alliance links clinical science, advocacy, and education in ways that will drive innovation and unite experts from across cardiovascular medicine. Our common goal is to strengthen the research pipeline, inspire the next generation of interventionalists, and ensure patients everywhere benefit from rapid advances in the interventional lab," said Ron Waksman, MD, MSCAI, chair of the CRT meeting.
